if you are under 13 then you need to use the site with your parents!!

That makes sense Erik!

Is there a minimum age for being on this site? I have a 7 year old niece who loves chess.

I'm 13, Erik. I've been looking at chess.com since May, when I turned 13, but I never signed up 'cause I thought the min. age was 18 or somthing. Then, 6 months later, I realized it was 13. Smile

Whose law? I'm a little confused, I thought this sort of policy was created by sites with mature content. I don't have to worry about it, I'm 18, but I'm curious about the nature of this law. It seems a little unfair that kids have to be supervised on a site as tame as chess.com. If it were something like *ch*n (certain letters censored so as not to give kids any ideas), I could totally see a policy. If it were an adult site, I know the law, but chess.com? What law, might I ask, that I might go to get it repealed?

I don't really think I'm any more mature as a 13 year-old compared to my 12th year of life.Tongue out

I am not sure if it is an actual law, it probably is somewhere in the world, but I think it is mainly there to stop the site from being sued by angry parents who do not watch their kids and then are mad when something bad happens and they get kidnapped or commit suicide or other sorts of drama. Blame irresponsible parents, not the law in this case.

 Good advice.

It's not exactly advice, as erik says "It's the LAW"

kids on chess.com someone should copyright it.Laughing

look... its not that important. im 14. if erik says its the law then its the law. you have to understand he could get into trouble by not following them so lets try not to start a rebellion and besides everyone comes here to play chess not get angry over something we  have no control over.

everyone comes here to play chess not get angry over something we have control over. I'm sorry, but last time I checked we do NOT have control over the law or what underage kids are doing on chess.com. That is between them and their parents.
