The Evansville open for me

Hello everyone this is my first article on my chess tournaments i have ever done but i am going to take a shot at it

*Due to privacy i will not mention any names 

*This was a 4 round 70 D10 time control 

As i entered this tournament i was ranked 15 out of 20 people with an otb rating of about 1550 and i had tough opponents the whole tournament my first round game was a tough one that ended in a draw vs a wayyyyyy higher opponent I was white in the game 

Round one: White: me 1564 vs Black NN 1/2 1/2

This player finished 6th in the tournament and he had a strong rating of 1848.

 I drew the game with him apparently i was nursing a small advantage but because he was a lot higher rated than me and it would be a strong start for me to draw my first game i was happy to draw him 

 

My second game: 

Me: White 1564 vs NN: black 1764 1-0 

 

Entering this round I some hope that i would draw a lower rated opponent but that was not the case . He had a strong rating that was 200 points higher than me. But i managed to pull off an amazing tactic that i would never expect myself to find.

 

Here is the game that ended in just 22 moves with a exciting tactic...Queen sac 

And he resigned due to the material lose that could not be stoped. 

Entering round three i had 1.5 out of 2 in a very strong field and i was hopeing to continue my cinderella story.

Round 3: My hard parings continue to come. 

Black: NN 1705 vs MEEEEE 1564 1/2 1/2. 

This was a scary game that i probably should have won but due to serious nerves i lost my advantage...

*Due to nerves i messed up early and made many notation errors.

 

Round 4: Will the cinderella story continue...

I had 2 points out of three going into the last round and i was really nervous...If i got a win i would automatically win my section of rating in the open tournament (Group C)and get 75$ which would be kinda nice lol. If i drew i could be tied by two other people if they won. So i was really nervous and finally hoped for an easy parring but as they say, "No rest for the weary" 

Round 4: NN: White 1741 vs MEEEEE 1564 0-1 

I messed up notation again lol but it was a crazy game. I was able to win off of a huge mistake by him and grind out a winning endgame....

 

Final Score: 3/4 

Place: Tied for second (ranked 15th at start of tournament)

I was so happy...The cinderella story was complete and i gained over 120 points in rating which brings me up to about a 1670...
