Bug? Profile editing tools not available.

Hello. I'm saying this on behalf of a friend, who cannot access the forum because his account is new, but he cannot edit his profile "About Me" like us normal users. Is this a bug? If yes, then pls fix it soon.

Profile edit for normal users like us:

https://prnt.sc/mQzwUohBSck3. (I could only post the link, since "Insert picture" by supplying "External Link" is also bugged. Pls look into it.)

Profile edit for him:

https://prnt.sc/vvNyMgtKtjRE. As well as that, when he put "carriage return" between the lines, they still appeared side by side in the profile window. Why should this happen?

EDIT: There is another bug, where upon publishing this forum post, it doesn't appear on my profile Activity.

Pls fix these at the earliest.

Mm?

Hello? Why wasn't this on the Recent Posts, and why does it always have to be ignored in that section unless a finite number of replies are given? This is most unfair.

I am experiencing the same with my alt

What has activity got to do with the writing and beautifying profile bio, I don't see any connection? And is playing tournaments and joining a club not activities? How old an account must be to get the profile edit facilities? And why such restrictions have to be placed on new accounts?

Why isn't anyone replying? Whats wrong with this?

They are some spam/abuse prevention techniques.

Can you cite some instances where profile bio encouraged spam and abuse? And you didn't answer my earlier question. How old an account must be (when it is doing sufficient activity) to get all the tools for editing profile bio?

I can't give specific examples, but one example would be spammers actually posting spam in that section.

Regarding the account age:

  • Basic users can access the advanced editor tool in the 'About Me' section 30 days after activating their account and playing a few games. Premium users, on the other hand, have immediate access.

"30 days after activating their account and playing a few games", whereas "Premiums have immediate access" so unfair sad.png.

Why not allow free opportunities for all?

Premium members have less of a chance to have abusive content. Trolls and spammers are more likely to immediately start using those things.

sounds like a skill issue

What if some insanely rich American (lets imagine he makes $100,000 a month) pays some 18 bucks to get membership, and immediately gets full profile and forum access, he could spam as much as he wants in a short time (and before 1 month goes, he has a 30 day "money back guarantee" so he could withdraw the money before he gets banned. If chess.com usurps that and can't return it to him, he has a lot of money and could spend another $18 on another account.) This is a serious loophole to check, @mARTIN_Stahl. I can't even imagine why u haven't thought of it yet. Those Indian spams made by helpmen of gambling companies use this trick, bruh.

And it's only your perception that they post less abusive, spammy contents. Anyone who has a lot of money and is literally h*ll-bent on spamming can use this trick to get immediate access.

I wonder why Martin or anyone else isn't replying or countering the debate here.

It's been 3 days since this issue was raised.
