Can we PLEASE stop castling by clicking the rook?

I have lost many games bc of this. Please consider changing for normal chess, but leave it in place for chess960. Clicking the rook should not castle in normal chess.

Not having castling start as a touch on the King is a mistake on the part of the site's programmers. Castling is a King move and it starts by touching the King. Touching the Rook first makes the move a Rook move and not castling. This is a bug that should be reported to the site.

I haven't tested in a while but I don't believe it castles if the Rook is clicked first, then the king, only if the King is clicked followed by the rook.
edit: checked on an analysis board and clicking the rook then king does not castle.

Just right-click once to cancel the previous selection.
Gotta love the solutions...
"My car veers to the right...please fix this issue Mr. Mechanic."
"When the car veers right, just steer left a little bit, problem solved."
"Ummm, no, problem not solved...it should not veer right in the first place, and it's a pain the behind."
When the default behavior of any UI varies in only 1 circumstance, it needs to be fixed.

That’s for premoves.

Just set it to "drag only" in settings.
Agreed, have lost multiple games due to this "feature". Should be able turn it off.

How can I? Don't see anything like that in the settings
That's correct, there's nothing like that in settings. If you happen to use Lichess however, in preferences (which is settings) under "Game behaviour" scroll to "Castling method" and click "Move king two squares" instead of "Move king onto rook". This will prevent castling in case you happen to either drag your king to the rook or click the king and then the rook.

Go to "All settings" at the bottom left of your screen, then "board and pieces", then "move method". Then set to "Drag ONLY".

Thanks, this is quite a decent work around but not a real solution. The thing is I like point and click, just I wish it didn't castle when you click king and rook. Castling should only happen I click the square where king goes when you actually want to castle.
