What about general chess discussion
On the bottom.
I read the first sentence, was like ok, then started reading and I was like I agree I agree, forgot the first sentence, then I read your last sentence, I said to myself, it's a decent idea but it wouldn't work and then I remembered the first sentence...

So you legitimately agreed then.
But it wouldn't realistically work
You can't have the garbage forums up top, and the interesting ones at the bottom, where 50% people won't scroll
Or... just close the whole forum. Then we’d see how many of the 50,000,000 members really are here to enjoy chess. Novel idea, i know. But of course that would eliminate all those who are here for the drama only.
Why would anyone play chess here
To avoid the forum drama, it’s a great diversion actually.

disclaimer, this is a joke. Blah blah blah.
nowadays, there are lots of kids getting in the chess.com forums. Begging for memberships, spamming hi, etc. I don't really have anything against them, but I admit it's annoying.
But yesterday, I decided that things needed to change... But not the people.
We should change the forums! (I don't mean threads, I know the difference.) So, my thoughts are on the top are the "hi," threads. After that, "gift me a membership," threads. Then, "advertise your club here," threads, etc.
And at the very bottom, (where off-topic used to be,) there should be a small section called on-topic, where, if someone on chess.com has a rare feeling of taking about chess, they can go there.
the advertise your clubs idea is a good one because I want my clubs to have more members and I want to join more clubs. but I need to advertise 154 clubs I joined?
I first thought this was joke, but let's be serious here. A lot of chess discussion is no longer as needed. We don't need a title player to give their input on this opening or that opening move is better, because stockfish does it on demand, and often at a higher rating than what you'd find in a forum.
It would be better if the forums were designed for things that forums are still needed for. Right at the top, help & support and feedback. Advertising for clubs, coaching, youtube channels. Then followed by social discussions. Afterwards, the meat of the chess.com forums, opening discussion, membership analysis, books & equipment and then maybe off topic to catch the youngsters who scrolled down too far.
I think it would make more sense that way.
