Come on, quit forcing your way of doing things

I was using the site and this was my home page:

Not the best but at least it allowed me to put things where I wanted them. It was ... "acceptable".

I refreshed my page and I got this:

With no way to change it.

i do not want my home page this way. I don't need the puzzle, I don't need to be "reminded" to do a lesson, I do not need to go into a game review with your silly computer.

I went to Home Settings and can find no way to get rid of this garbage.

How do I get back to the other layout or change what is at the top of my page.

How about if you give people who pay to use your site a way to customize things or is that too hard for you people to figure out how to do.

I wonder if they've taken on some DGT staff? ;o)

GeorgeGoodnight

I've still got the tiles at the top, but only 4. I wonder if it'll be none tomorrow? ;o)

That layout is the new one and is slowly being released site wide. You can always suggest the site add back customization options or change the way it works on the new format, but when it's fully rolled out, the old version will be retired.

Help > Make a Suggestion is a good way to get your insight in front of staff.

Gee, Martin, who would-have-thunkit that a sub-forum call SITE FEEDBACK is not a good place to leave FEEDBACK .

It's a decent place but may not always be seen by staff.

Yeah, developers get bored so instead of fixing something or responding the community feedback, they change the nav bar and the home page. Not looking forward to when I get stuck with the new home page.

The new home page looks like motivational posters of a hostile employer.

it seems that, when agreeing to be a mod, any ability to note sarcasm or jokes must be lobotomized.

as far as the "change", this is how cc operates now. rsava, you have been here long enough to remember the years long v3 rollout. back then, staff actually asked us for our input on the good and the bad from the user's perspective.

not anymore.

Or I just quantified why I suggested what I suggested wink

Sarcasm sometimes deserves a reply too.

Developers don't suddenly decide they want to do something. The site product and project teams plan out things and assign the work to the development teams.

Developers have more sense than to just make arbitrary changes that annoy users.  People have their home page as they like it, now it's just a jumbled mess that doesn't contain things I want and does contain a load of rubbish I don't want.  It was absolutely fine previously, but there's always someone, probably totally detached from day to day usage of a site, that feels the need to just keep changing things!

I totally agree with Rsava.  I want my old home page back.   It's appalling that chess.com would change the layout for the worse with no way to change it back.  Now I no longer have all my vote chess games in one place.  Instead I have to go to each club and check there to find out what's going on with the vote chess games.

Just seen the change applied to my homepage and came searching to find wth is going on. I tried the home settings and unless I'm missing something there doesn't seem to be a way to remove the offending stuff at the top of the home screen. C'mon, at least make it optional please? What's the point in having a customisable home page if you slap an unchangeable bit at the top which is the first thing you see.

I was about to say exactly the same thing, so will just add my voice to the idea that the new home screen should be customisable so that users can pick and choose the look that they prefer.  Especially important for paid subscribers to have this ability, but should be open to everyone.

My understanding is that there aren't plans on making the new home customizable like the old one. The customizable settings are still around due to the old layout.

Though I imagine things are always subject to change.

Thanks Martin. Are these future plans for Chess.com private or is there a person or blog I should be following on Chess.com that announces this sort of thing in advance so that changes like this don't come as an unpleasant surprise?
