I do not like the new, smaller analysis bar!

Thanks everyone for all the reply's.  Just a quick question though what does +1 mean.  Sorry I am a bit of a noob.

It means they agree. Generally with the OP post.

The new bar is pretty useless...

The thinner eval bar is not what's bothering me the most, but not seeing the number in it is very annoying ...

This.

How can I get rid of this bar altogether? I tried going into my live chess settings and turning off the slider for "show evaluation bar," but it's still there...

I've bug reported the Show Evaluation Bar toggle not working.

I know, but during analysis it's incredibly tedious to see how the advantage changes this way

Agreed, now you are concentrating less on analysing but instead on making sure you can see what the analysis is

TheKnightsAlliance

lol, exactly.  Where as before, this was never a problem at all.  Major fail

I'm a paying member and I don't get that functionality.

We're testing it out -- there'll be a setting to bring back the old one.

TheKnightsAlliance

Like the original with the numbers?

Yeah, I like the idea of having options, one way or the other, seems the smarter way to go, being able to choose which one you like the best.

Good to know!

mafriedman

Glad to hear I will be able to choose the old one, I like it better.

AceFrawley

I also prefer to see the number there at all times.

Great news Aidan, thanks for the update. I'm not really sure anyone will prefer the new version to be honest but if there will be an option either way that's good for all.

I feel the same. The bigger bar was nice to see the up and downs easily

I completely agree.  Some people don't mind the thinner bar, but I definitely prefer the wider version

I'm in Beta and assumed that given the initial feedback in Beta 16 days ago it wouldn't be released to the general public.

Why Beta test if the negative feedback doesn't halt the release of inferior product?

mafriedman

Interesting info on the beta testing, thanks for attempting to look out for the rest of us.

glamdring27

I much prefer the old one.  Don't see any need whatsoever to make it smaller.  There's loads of wasted space around the sides of the board anyway on PC.  I hope the 'option' is to make it thin and the default is the old one so I don't have to keep remembering to check settings to look for when it arrives!

Turtl3Bear

It bodes poorly for the future of chess.com if anyone one thier team thought this was a good idea in the first place.

Ah, you've fallen into the age old trap. Companies offer beta tests to drive up hype and increase player engagement.

They have literally no interest in what you have to say. Look at the history of Blizzard with OverWatch Beta for a similar example.

*Company implements change that 100% of its beta users disagree with

"We did not have enough information to conclude this was poor choice before releasing it to the general populaiton" Company.

They don't want you to tell them their ideas are bad, they want you to sign in and check out what's on the beta, increasing your traffic to their site.
