I love chess.com - but some things are not that good....

I would like to discuss some things on the chess.com site I dislike. These are shurely minor things, but some times I´m a bit angry about these things:

1.) some time ago I lost three games because I came to the "resign" button in an strange and somewhat awkward way. I used the analysis tool for longer games (1 day per move) with my new tablet and the resign button is exactly under the move backward button. I was really very upset with these incidents. I don´t think a resign or draw button is needed at this analysis tool. If I find I´ve to resign the game it is not so much work to go back to the game and press the button there.

2.) lately every time one goes for example to the analysis or to the lectures there is a pop up that tells me, how wonderful and totally important is that item... what for? That I have to make a klick more than necessary? I know why I´m going to that tools.

3.) In the dark mode I actually don´t see the i.e. the scrollbar for the analysis tool. Always have to switch to the light mode.

4.) Today I worked with a self made png in the analysis tool. But the move which is on the board is not visible right in the move order and comments window. I always had to scroll up to see the highlighted move. Have a look:

I know, these are minor problems. And all in all I´m very satisfied and happy with the chess.com site, so don´t get me wrong. But maybe I had to express myself a bit about these things that bother me. So tell me, what bothers you at the site and how could it improve.

Please write to chess.com team. They are very responsive.

@hk_newbie31: I wrote some of these things already to the team, also some things a while ago, but never got an answer. So I can´t share your opinion.

"Please write to chess.com team. They are very responsive."

Isn't this forum the place to write to the chess.com team?

archaja

No, not really! Shure, I think some of the threats they read, but normally there is a "help" button down the left side where you can "make a suggestion" or something similar (I have the german board, so I don´t know the exact expression).

A forum called "Site Feedback" isn't read by the chess.com team?  Then what's the purpose of the forum?  Why not call it "Feedback between users that isn't read by chess.com team"?

They could always change the forum name to "Site Non-Feedback"...

not really helpful - not really funny!

Rockotokko

So you resigned 3 times against your will? Perhaps it is subconscious.

archaja

No, trembling fingers because of my fear, to make a wrong move.

archaja

That´s great. Thanks!

GChess

Anytime!

archaja

Ah, and for all who think that the chess.com team should read all what in the forum is written: Have you ever had a look at the chronik? Do you really think, it would be even possible to read it. and besides, by the amount of absolute nonsense that is written here, I don´t think that it would be necessary... (i.e. something like: let´s put thousend entries in one houre here....).

GChess

You've all just got to remember there is a massive amount of users compared to Moderators/Staff. However, places like this -just because we don't comment all the time- does not by any means mean we are not listening. happy.png

Hopefully not a Freudian slip.

Edit: the quote in this post got silently edited by a mod with matching changes to the quoted post. Site feedback was originally misspelled as Side Feedback. Changing original text in a quote is considered an offence.  Changing original comment and quoted text without notice should be considered abuse of power.

I don't have a tablet so I can't fully test it for you but if I change my browser to "iPad mode" I can still access the "confirm resign" toggle switch.
Can you use this option from your tablet?

Hope this helps! happy.png
