I do not play any named openings, though there are names for them. If you want to learn named openings, this sounds like an excellent method of learning them. I respect those of you visionaries who are finding ways to enhance the chess experience for players every where. Good luck with your idea!

So I'm looking for people's feedback on this idea I have for an alternative way to learning chess openings. I understand chess.com has their own version of lessons to learn the openings by showing you videos and then presenting challenges to learn the openings but I'm having difficulty memorizing the proper board setup because the pieces are already positioned in their designated placed.
My idea is a new game mode similar to puzzle rush that pairs you with an online member and you each pick an opening to play prior to the game starting with or without variants for example the Italian game. The game starts with all the pieces on their starting squares, white moves first, and you each play the Italian game opening. If either player plays the wrong move the player who move incorrectly losses the round and the board resets to the beginning. You're given 3 tries to complete the opening. If both players play the correct moves on all 3 rounds the game ends in a draw, and you're back at game start where you can choose your opening (with or without variants) to be pairs with a new member.
Let me know your feedback and if your like the idea be sure to like this post so hopefully the developers can see it.
