New interface Feedback

I guess in the language this is YET ANOTHER new UI. User Interface.

Absolutely atrocious and an abomination.

Apparently all this new UI wants is me to play chess on the website, which I NEVER do. So this new interface is completely contrary to my interactions with the website. But I assume it is a broad sweeping change and nothing to do with my personal algorithm.

Anyway, my feedback, in a nutshell, is that the new interface is awful.

Agree, this is horrible. Can only see 20 of my active games on the homepage (I've got 47 total atm), and there's only an eensie teensie hitbox to actually open the game from there; 4 times in 5 I'll accidentally open the tournament/match instead of the game. And none of this seems to be adjustable in the settings.

Is everyone on the site redesign team drunk?

I only use website for forums, but yeah these updates have not been good.

That new homepage is horrendous.

I am currently waiting for my daily chess tournament to start a new round, and to check on how many games are still being played I have to... go to the Play tab, click on Tournaments, from there switch to Daily tournaments (which opens a new tab in my browser), and there I actually have to change two of the three search filters to finally see my current tournament.

Who the F*** approved this? I've been on shorter journeys when I went hiking in the mountains

I completely agree, it’s a disaster. All they do is change the design every other day instead of fixing things.

It drives you mad trying to find information that you used to be able to find quickly, easily and intuitively.

And, as always, they do it without warning and without considering the consequences for the user.

Apart from what’s already been mentioned, I CAN’T SEE MY NOTES on the home page. I had important information in them. Yesterday I could see them, but today they’ve changed the interface design and I can’t find them, nor can I see the option to enable them... It’s as if they never existed. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO SEE THEM AND HAVE ACCESS TO THEM AGAIN. And asking the bot is like talking to a wall. frustrated.png

The experience of using the platform is enough to put anyone off.

The new interface somehow seems more busy to the eyes, while simultaneously displaying less information than it used to. Very bad. Please get rid of the constant ai coach, and focus on showing the most information while still being as pleasing to the eyes as possible. This new look is the worst of all worlds.

This part of the change has annoyed me also. I just accidentally found out that if you go to

https://www.chess.com/member/{insert_your_user_name_here}

instead of just

https://www.chess.com/home

it takes you to a page with the old homepage format. Its worth bookmarking.

[edit] Clicking on 'overview' on that page instead of 'games' will give you what you're looking for.

[edit again] Or, just click on your own user name at the top of the new home page.

Hi. I've tried this trick, but I'm afraid it doesn't work for me. At least not for me... surprise I don't know if anyone else has tried it.

I hate that it has taken emphasis away from the daily puzzle streak, my streak of more than a year ended because I didn’t realise I solved a daily after the cut off.

That link is your profile, what other people see.

Avatar of fish-bag

Yes, and this is part of what I see there, very similar to what the home page used to look like last week. I thought it might be what @mjs752002 would want. Besides being mainly linked to each individual game instead of the match/tournament, it seems like it will not limit the number of games listed.

Avatar of fish-bag

In fact, it doesn't limit the number of games shown in the list. When I look at his profile page, I can see all 49 of his active games instead of just 20.

Hmm, when I go to https://www.chess.com/member/honor_leslie I can see your daily game, and in the format that we prefer over the new homepage...? [edit] and all of the personal stuff that you want others to see but isn't on your own homepage - is that what you mean by notes?

Avatar of fish-bag

For example, I can see this when I look at my own profile page:

Avatar of grunon55

The slider bar on the Game Review doesn't work so I can't pull down to see the analysis of my moves (Brilliant, Great, etc) or how the computer rated that game. I sent a message to tech support but no action in weeks.

What I mean is that you said that by configuring the link, we could access the ‘old version’ of our profile’s home page: just as it appeared last week with my notes (where friends used to write greetings or congratulations, or where you yourself would write personal updates, view your statistics, access the puzzles and the next lesson, etc.).

But editing that link takes me to the page with the new design or, failing that, to a ‘page not found’ error...

(Now I've lost my notes)

PS. They should let users choose which design we want on our profile (home page)...
