In the old version I could tap on let's say "brilliant" move and review will take me directly to this move. How can you do it now on android ?

If you mean the app, click on the number for the move classification for the side you're interested in and it will jump to the first instance

Ok thank you, it wasn't working 2 weeks ago. As I downgraded the app version, I will check that later. Can you tell me where can I find the openings as in the old version (they were displayed immediately at the beginning) ?

No point in paying money for game reviews anymore, it's absolutely useless now.

It's listed on the last book move.

What is your Chess Personality? #774, Game is rigged cant win #2859, New review presentation is awfull #287. You see folks, after quickly picking two random topics you can see either Chesscom migrated #9000+ game review bad comments to oblivion or there are at maximum only #287 people who cared enough to post comments regarding the new game review. Not enough people in the community were bothered enough to complain about game review. (although I don't recall a topic "new games review rocks!!") Just thinking out loud...obviously there's financial gain for chesscom to take on this endeavor. (the details could mitigate how this looks from the outside to members) Making money is not a bad thing though, I like to make money. I personally was put off by some responses from both member's and chesscom's team. Both being at times overzealous in displeasure and defense of new game review. People doing people things. My question and if it's within one of the earlier posts please just refresh my memory. I don't wish to search all comments to find it. The question to chesscom, why? Why was the whole game review changed? Lastly, The new game review is a full baggie I take home after walking my dog.... I'm not commenting on it's performance, utility, or even just the idea it's new. The only fact is that it looks like poo and is annoying as heck to look at, still. So kudos to everyone, defenders or cons of the new ugly game review. It was entertaining and a waste of time. (like my post) I would appreciate an answer to my why question though!! I just got to know lol! Sigh. Peace out!

Its still a mess, I've cancelled. Spending too much of my life on this site anyhow.

You can't convince me that there isn't some other reason for implementing this change, I'm sorry. Everything used to be in 1 place, you had the summary of the move classifications, you could easily follow along 1 page, the coach's text was logically placed next to the move, when you made a move in game review you'd automatically go to the analysis tab etc etc etc,... Now the summary of the move classifications isn't even complete unless you press that little arrow, then you have to press a button to start the review, the summary of the move classifications disappears there, you have to click on analysis instead of it doing it automatically when making a move, the name of the opening doesn't show anymore, everything is zoomed in 17000% for some apparent reason etc etc etc. I'm utterly disappointed with this update, at least give users the choice between the old and new interface.

Enshittification. User satisfaction doesn't matter anymore if they have or at least think they have a big enough of a captured audience.

Actually, I like the new review, as of today.

It's listed on the last book move.

Come on now, it doesn't even say the variation of the played opening in the game review. I just played against a dragon sicilian and at the end of the book moves it just says "this is the sicilian defense opening". I get that it says the full name in the analysis tab, but that's irrelevant. It used to also show in game review in a nice little box that was always visible in the move list, now we have to search in the list of moves for the last book move, scroll down in the text box and it doesn't even say the complete name.
And another thing, I'm not blaming you personally, but I am a bit annoyed that none of the responses from the chesscom-staff acknowledge our critiques or give explanations as to why the game review was changed this drastically.

I miss the old days when we had the best game review in the world! Now we have the Chess Kids version. "( I wish I knew why...

new review is horrible, why is it forcing me to review my opponents moves? does anyone know how to make it stop?

Lord_Sweeney

Seriously. People got PAID to implement that. The old version was actually very good and surprisingly intuitive. This is just garbage vomited onto a screen. Stop giving your UI person meaningless busywork to do--they suck at their job.

ii-dont-know-how-to-playy

not to sound like a big complainer, but this new change is seriously making my subscription not worth it, I just started to learn chess over the last 3 months and have used review extensively in that time frame. I now find myself not using the review as often as I used to due to two primary reasons, it is forcing me to review my opponent's moves as if I was the opponent reviewing my own game. the second reason (and the biggest problem) is that is is showing me the best move when showing me my mistakes which literally makes the review pointless. when i review my games I like to go back and view my mistakes and try to find the best move, the new UI completely removes that from the game. So at this point, why even pay for the premium sub for this website when the main purpose of it has now been removed for me? I put a pause on new charges on chess.com for next month. Until these issues are resolved I can not pay money for this.

As a side note from the actual functional issues I talked about above the new UI screen is just flat out ugly and takes up more space for seemingly no reason at all, its a poor design and a massive downgrade from the older one. It is really telling how most companies have this need to change something that works completely fine for no reason at all, i guess so they can feel as if they are making progress. Something a bit weird maybe to just me is that it feels very childish as well to have the coach in the top corner telling me things as well.

Overall these changes are what is leading me to cancel my sub to this site, it is unfortunate because i was really enjoying learning chess on this site up until now.

edit: if there is another place i can submit feedback to the company please let me know but this is all i could find.

OriSagiv

The only real problem with the new version of the review for me is that it now shows right away the answer to what you should have played when you played a bad move.
What's the point if it doesn't make you think and try to find yourself what you should have played instead of the mistake you made?
The "retry" button is pointless now.

In the Analysis/Review settings you can change it to the color you are playing (on one of your games) and it should review future games from just the side you played

Erik Allebest and Dmitri Shneider are the 2 head honchos you wanna track down and protest to. The low level staff and middle management reading this forum have already shown, they do not care.

@erik is the CEO. Dmitri looks to be a VP level member of staff. Pretty sure Erik is pretty involved in the major product changes already.

Martin_Stahl

@ii-dont-know-how-to-playy and @OriSagiv you can turn off Show Best Moves in the settings for Review

This is absurd. On top of forcing us all back on to the new version that >95% of the people here have said they can't stand, now the analysis panel has been uselessly changed so that it's a pain now to toggle lines being displayed vs not. Maybe I'm a weird edge case but I spend a lot of time in analysis with just the eval bar on but like to be able to easily display the computer lines if I'm stuck but now the same button gives you all or nothing. Been a member here for 13 years but given how poorly all this has been handled (seemingly absorbing none of the negative feedback, just temporarily pacifying everyone by giving them the old interface back and barely interacting with all of us outside of several 'well actually...' posts) I will definitely join the others in cancelling my membership. Absolutely ridiculous.

You can toggle just lines by hitting ... and turning them off/on

I thought I mentioned that was the case already but yes I understand. My whole point was (like several of the other things mentioned) you've made a very common user interaction more difficult. You might say 'oh it's just 1 extra mouse click so who cares' but if you're used to doing all of those things 40+ times per review it becomes virtually unusable, all seemingly for the benefit of some imaginary user that can't find their glasses and needs everything displayed 3x larger than before

This is such an annoying change! I'm switching engine lines all the time, many times for each game even. Also for every line I'm testing out, every puzzle I missed etc.

It's really frustrating that the button I used most often on this entire website has become the unnecessary inaccessible. It's two additional clicks. One to open the dropdown, then you click to toggle engine lines on or off as is normal, and then you have to click somewhere else on the screen to close the dropdown again. Which means turning engine on and off again requires 6 clicks each time.

I'm really curious how other people do their analysis. They have hotkeys for things I never use, but not for the one thing that I actually toggle all the time.

Ocelot32

How do I get from the review to the move-by-move analysis that I used to have?

I hate this overly large and cartoon like new display.

Thanks.
