Some people just try to get under ur skin and it worked on me once and I got muted for a day whatever. I kinda get that one. That was a few months ago and then the next bad word wasn’t harassing and muted for a week. So now I’m assuming if there’s one more it’s a month of muted? Waay overboard esp for a paying member on a 13+ site. I’ve also had a few people I give tips to muted after we played and we have no idea why. Maybe Elon musk will buy chess.com and fix this

Is this officially a 13+ site? (Question for @Martin_Stahl)

because I am technically above that number, but I have friends who aren’t (some who are 12, 11, all the way down to 7… maybe even 6 but idk if that kid plays on .com or only l1chess).

just curious because there are definitely a lot of members below there.

Oh ya like 500 rated players require a IM to teach them

You simply dont have the positional, tactical and planning knowledge to coach anybody

For official coaching that costs maybe over $20 what you said might make sense (and I’d maybe agree with it too), but come on… they’re just free lessons. This person is just trying to help their friends get better at the game, no cost. If you don’t want to think about it as coaching, just think about it as goodwill and teaching.

As I said, it would be good if people were given a choice though. so if we can handle jokes & a bit of name calling it would only be us down there cracking the jokes & knocking each others play.

A lot of us don't mind a laugh & can take a joke.

The thing is, if someone wants to keep social features open, they don't get a choice not to see abusive language if the site allowed it to happen.  One member's desire to see or dish out something that could be considered abusive does not override another member's desire to not deal with it.

Theoretically the site could have a setting to disable filters on income chats/messages, but that's probably unlikely and wouldn't allow carte blanche to say whatever is wanted anyway. Also, live chats can be seen by spectators as well, so that's not a good fix for that area.

Yes Ok I do understand, it's a tricky one...I do respect the rules though & decisions made. It's not my site. But I do wish we had a setting we could turn on so we can wind each other as we play.. happy.png

The site is 13+ but I would guess the vast majority of members don't want to see questionable chat and the site doesn't want people to receive it either.

Yes.

See mods I should IMO be allowed to tell this guy to F off in a private message. I wouldn’t post it publicly. This is my whole point

So you want to do it to offend? Very convincing argument.

Edit: op's so tough, he sent me 6 messages and proceeded to block me. Guess he found blocking was more powerful than bad words. QED.

Edit2: op just won't stop messaging  me and whining even after he blocked me. so i've finally blocked him.  too much noise.
