pawn glitch

Glad to help. Most learn chess from one of their friends and they can only teach what they know.
About once a week someone makes a thread on this...

It's called "en passant", French for "in passing". When one of your pawns moves two squares as its first move and the square it passed through is controlled by an opponent's pawn, that pawn can take your pawn while it is passing by, just as if your pawn had only advanced one square. The opponent's pawn can do this only on his next move, capturing your pawn while it passes by. Once they let it go by, playing any other move, your pawn is safe.
