Petition to give all 2000+ rated players Moderator on chess.com

I think it takes a very small amount of time to confirm people's ID. I think I could do 10 a minute. Which is worth the time it takes to find all the people breaking rules

Good gravy do you know how much trouble this will cause by giving random players or less mod and admin. we do not know who these player's are. we don't know if they have good intentions or not.

Please stop posting blatant thread about giving random player these types of privileges?!

I’m 2000 and none of these things, and definitely not having a solid understanding of chess

i agree there are way too many trolls and current mods aren't doing anything about them

If accounts are not breaking the site TOS nothing will be done

So if I'm 2000 rated in fog of war do I get free mod

honch. dude. you've made a solid 3 petitions in regards to elo groups gaining/losing things. all have swung and missed. do you not see the redundancy of making petitions over and over regarding things that will, for sure, never happen? if people want mod, they should just go to the forum, find the google forms, and sign up. elo has nothing at all to do with capability to handle the forums. if you really want mod, just be 18+, have a x (unsure) year old account, and go to the google form and sign up. thats how it has been and most likely will be for the forseeable future.

Yes if you didn't cheat or rating boost and provide real name and ID to prevent trolls

They aren't random people as I mentioned in the post, and I'm also suggesting we require real name and ID to prevent trolls and cheaters, along with requiring multiple of these moderators to confirm a punishment to prevent power abuse

That's fair, but it would be nice if we could immediately take out obvious scammers/alts/abusers without waiting days. And as I said earlier high elo might not mean great moderation, but based on what I have witnessed on forums all 2000+ are very respecful and do not troll so they could take out obvious rule breakers

some of them are kinda subpar though. im not gonna point any fingers but some 2000+ aren't as respectful as you think they are. I don't think anyone would get hired based off elo; its better to hire based off actual experience as someone who has dealt with forums or something among those lines

I do agree with you that some forums last way too long when they should've been taken down on onset, though.

Something that I notice happening in the chess.com forums recently is that there are many trolls running around on the chess.com forums who never get punished. I believe that this is due to a lack of moderation, as currently the moderator application process is very tedious and discouraging to many qualified individuals. Another thing I have noticed is that every single person who is 2000+ rated on the forums seems to be very helpful, serious, trustworthy and responsible, along with having a solid understanding of chess. I believe that all 2000+ rated players should automatically be granted the "Moderator" rank on chess.com, since we can be sure that they will warn and punish these trolls responsibility and we won't have to worry about them abusing their power.

EDIT: It has come to my attention that some people could cheats in order to gain 2000 rating. Which is why I suggest real name and ID be required to claim moderator, so they know you are a real person and they can permanently blacklist you if you are found to be cheating

That's a lot of moderators, and with that many, there's bound to be a few who abuse that power.

Plus, to be a moderator you have to be 18+, some 2000+ people on this website are kids; not saying that the vast majority of 2000+ are, but there is still a select few.

Imagine giving this fool a moderator status. Chaos ensues.
