a lot of people play rated games, including me, so its not a problem for a lot of people. its not that much of a big deal either, its literally two clicks. i do agree that it could be a bit more clear, but its not that big of an issue imo.

Why the heck does this site default to playing ranked instead of the last game type I played?
This is the most obnoxious "feature" of this site. Sometimes I want to play random goofy openings and just relax. Then you find out Boom -8 points because Chess.com can't figure out how to tell you you're playing ranked unless you go sort through custom game options every freaking time you log in. This is especially annoying for people who play in focus mode who don't see the points at risk when matchmaking.
Chess.com has how many product managers working for them and they can't figure this out?
Then after this stupidity they try to convert me to a paid membership?
I started this account after dropping over 100 rating points from this stupidity on my first account. And they wonder why I'm never planning on paying for membership on this site.
