Depends on the bug.

I don't know if this is a bug, but I will post it anyway out of frustration. I sent in a ticket several days ago about my chess lessons not being rated any more. (They used to be called 'chess mentor) Now they are new lessons or the 'old' lessons, you can switch back and forth.

So my rating in that dept. has stayed the same at 1714 for I don't know how long now. Its either a simple fix or a bug.

So the reply came back from an auto responder, and said 'Hello Simon'.. Not my real name, or user name. And then proceeded to instruct me on how to change my game ratings, from non to rated.

chess.com you may be getting to big for your britches now days. In the past, the response always came from a human being. Nothing beats the personnel touch.! Pay the extra money for customer service personnel, and it will be its own just rewards.  https://youtu.be/Wa8s6RJwAxU

Not a bug. The new lessons are not rated. You have to go into the old ones for rating, though I don't know how long they will stick around.

Thx Martin, I appreciate that.

Okay, the bug is that once I was playing tactics and I mistakenly tapped on the settings tab and then when I click to the board again and then it says (correct) why this happens.

The clock shows I have 1:33 left and my opponent has run out of time (I watched her clock run out waiting for her next move)
, but the message to me says: "You ran out of time before your move...." -- And they deducted 7 points from my rating, though I was clearly winning.

@rogerchristenson:  You're a fairly new member so I'll just go ahead and assume you've never read any of the many dozens of previous complaints about this.  There are actually 3 clocks involved in this: yours, hers, and the only one that counts-the chess.com server.  So for whatever reason (usually a temporary disconnect), her move never reached your computer.  Some folks have found it helpful to refresh the page when their opponent seems to take a long time to make a move or seems to be letting the clock run down.  Hope that makes sense to you.  I'll try to find the "help" article that explains this since it's more detailed.

Been awhile since I've been on the forums, and in the meantime, the "help" section has been "improved".  What was once one article seems to now be three or four...If you run your cursor down to the lower left corner of the screen and hover over Help, another box pops up.  You want to click on Ask a Question.  Try browsing the articles that come up when you type in "lag".  When you're done there, try typing in "disconnect".  Hope that helps....

Chess.com plans to remove them?

@Baddogno Thanks.

@rogerchristenson:  You're quite welcome.  If the problem occurs again, there are a number of possible solutions listed in the Help articles.  Let's hope it was a one time glitch...
