And if staff bothers to answer, I'd also like to know why you chose to have faster arenas give more bonus trophies per amount of time played.
Why does rapid get half the trophies that Bullet/Blitz does?

Well, one thing you can do with rapid, is play it as if it's bullet. Your rating will fall until you're winning half your games, and you'll be completing rapid games at maybe 7 minutes per game, which would give you many more points than blitz or bullet.
You could even play rapid simuls like this, and get tons of points... although supposedly it's an unwritten rule that you're not supposed to simul (another chess.com oversight).

I'd rather just play proper Chess, but I see what you mean. But still... I'd like them to clarify their decision because 50% of the trophies is basically not allowing rapid in the later rounds.

the problem is that you have to actually win all those games in blitz or bullet to make rapid chess inferior, and that's not so simple...

If a person has accurate ratings, then they'll tend to win ~50% regardless of the time control.
Therefore rapid earns fewer trophies per amount of time played (at least at face value, maybe staff will explain their reasoning).

ok but somehow people like to play rapid more in the division i play in (probably because they are lower rateds who have a lot of time on their hands)

I can't follow this logic. You simply have to play and win half your games. No matter what you do, your rating will gravitate towards your skill level and this will be the case. So by default you agree with my post.

These are still the early and uncompetitive weeks. If these amounts stay the same, speed chess will dominate the leaderboards down the line.

I don't think most people realize leagues exist... or if they do they have no idea how they work, otherwise they'd be playing in arenas because arenas give you bonus trophies no matter what time control you prefer.

i'm afraid so, but there isn't much we can do right now, people are even saying that speed chess will be the future of chess (i disagree, but that seems to be the current trend)

yes, i think arena points are the biggest problem, why should people get points for playing in arenas, it doesn't have any difference with playing regular games.

Blitz/Bullet get around 3 trophies per minute, while rapid gets 1.5. Why give slower time controls such a massive disadvantage? Not sure if I care enough to even bother trying to figure out why this is but I feel like it's trying to force people to play faster time controls.
my friend is constantly getting 2k+ trophies just playing rapid, you can still play rapid and progress

There's a guy in my division who got 4k trophies for wood and for stone.
But he spends something like 16 hours a day playing... like seriously, 100 games of 10|0 in a day? That's nuts.
I can get roughly 100 trophies per hour... in other words I could get 4k trophies by playing 6 hours a day... bullet arena is much more efficient than non-arena rapid.
In fact bullet arena is the most efficient non-simul method of getting trophies.

So? That is an easy amount if someone plays a lot, later on that will not be enough.

Because less people play rapid as it is?
How would that justify it? In any case... 10|0 is the most popular time control.

I guess Rapid gives more trophies than blitz and bullet. That sounds fun to me! You're getting time to think and play more tactically with a great number of trophies if you win a game.
Also, you can't blame that Rapids are the reason for the uprise in Leaderboards. Most people also get at least 1.5K trophies by only playing blitz...
You have it backwards, Rapid gets less. Right now it's natural for the more popular time control to be in the leaderboards, but it doesn't make it fair or explain why Rapid gets HALF the trophies that Blitz/Bullet does.
