You need to do something different with banned posters on the forums.

"It is hard to build a community if your notes randomly become unreadable."
Have you seen the forums? This isn't a community, it a village of idiots.

The forums are a village of idiots, but usually notes are in clubs, and some clubs have a glimmer of hope.

Truer words have never been thus spoken before!!!!

If a person is banned, all their forum posts, notes and chats are treated as they aren't there.

3. If a banned person created a topic, then the first responder becomes the OP. Often times, the first responder doesn't exactly WANT to be the OP. Just this feature alone can lead to some pretty trolly issues.
Banned members that create a post, have the whole post hidden. The only way that 3 happens if the OP deletes their initial post.

Honestly, that seems even worse...
I can make any sort of troll-ish post, wait for the first reply, and then transfer ownership? That seems to be a terrible setup.

This is a problem for 3 reasons.
1. Just because someone cheats, or is abusive, doesn't necessarily mean all their posts were worthless. Even evil people can have valuable contributions, and throwing them out is throwing out the baby with the bathwater.
2. It breaks the flow of the forum. For example. if two people are chatting in notes, then one gets erased, it turns notes into gobbledygook. It is hard to build a community if your notes randomly become unreadable.
