Abandoned Games

I was playing member tarregamenia and they were losing so they abandoned the game.  I did not receive any points for the win nor did they lose points for the loss/abandonment.  I looked at their profile and that person abandons every game they're losing thus they never lose points.  How is this fair?

...but if so...wouldn't the invite to play indicate such? I would think so.

what is, and how do you tell an unrated game from a rated game?  I lose or gain points every time I play.
