There are a bunch of groups here associated with beer and drinking. One of them "chess drunkards" has the audacity to explain that they are not drinking, but drunk on chess. That's just wrong.

I've often thought that chess.com was actually lacking a true beer lovers group.

Not a beer drinkers group, mind you, as anyone can drink cheap swill, but a group for those of use who really appreciate and love quality craft beer.

I'd have set it up ages ago if I didn't feel like I'd be doing the group a disservice through my inability to dedicate time to administering it.

Does anyone else want to take on the task?

I'd seen those, but thought they either lacked focus (Whiskey?  Wine?  Cheese?  All fine, but they're not beer) or focused too much on the intoxication and not enough on the infatuation.

I just went there and joined...but... you are all GOOD f'in players! I'm sure I could match you at the pub, but I don't want to weigh the group down with bad playing so let me know if it's a problem.

Regarding administration, you already set it up so what's to do? I've got the bottle opener. Let's get started!

Sometimes during live chess, after a game, I'll ask my opponent to hang on a sec so that I can go get another beer.

These are two separate issues.  Drinking doesn't automatically imply drinking and driving.

If what you imply is true, I too am sorry for your loss. It's tragic and irresponsible and a crime and it has nothing to do with sitting in front of a computer with a beer and playing chess. There are other forums to stalk. Find one. You have the power of selection, it's under your finger.
