All The Reasons We Hate V3!

1. It has more bugs than an ant farm.
2. I tried to create a club called "We Hate V3" and got an error message, "Group name can only contain letters, numbers spaces" (etc); and the club name contained none of it.
3. Tournament names are truncated; what's this 16 character (or whatever) limit crap?
4. The great look and feel of chess.com is gone; replaced with some bland interface that looks more like a social networking site instead of the distinctive, easy interface of V2. It seems no attempt was made to retain the old interface look and feel.
5. Old users have to relearn an otherwise familiar site.
6. The old function of news alerts is gone; no one receives messages anymore, only links to new news.
7. The old function of tournament invites is gone; no one receives messages with their tournament invite any more; only a stupid link.
8. We can't turn off or on "Vote Chess" and/or "Team Match" anymore in our group profiles; making it more difficult to find teams to challenge and causing us to receive challenges to non-playing groups.
9. It seems to use too much memory.
10. Too often, my FireFox "stops responding" when trying to make chess moves. If V3 won't be compatible with FireFox and I have to either switch browsers or close my account, I'm outa here.

Now; as it seems I am stuck with this, I'm sure I'll find more; and so far, I'm not sure I'm willing to keep paying to use it.

C'mon, V3 haters, grumblers, complainers, dissidents, dissenters and disatsified customers; help me out here! Sound off and let's try to at least get some of the old look and feel of chess.com back!

Why don't you just use V2?

Because, I'm an admin and V2 is not communicating with V3 well; so many alerts of what I do in V2 is not being related to V3 users.

Also, V2 is going by the wayside; so in time, V2 won't even be an option.

Oh. And another thing about V3:

I can't "size" pictures in forum entries; I can only "stretch"!

 ... Leafing through a pullup menu for alerts is awkward and unfriendly ...

Long live V2 !!!  Do not take away V2 !!!  The best and the easiest.

I completely agree with the OP's observations, below.

I have absolutely no problem with v3 and Firefox. I have an old, old system with minimal RAM  and Windows Vista.  I don't see the functionality issue.

I always think about that when I saw the complaints and when I use V3.

I think V3 is sabotage. Someone inside chess.com is paid by competitors to mess with this company.

I said I don't see any functionality issues.  There are differences. I find some better, some worse.  Change can be good and this change is particularly good for the developers and the folks who manage the day-to-day operations.   BTW, I've been here 9-10 (not 8-9) years and have seen a lot of change.

Can anyone state when the v2 is no longer going to be an option? I really do prefer it to the v3.

For people who don't like the default look & feel of V3, try switching your theme to "Classic" - that changes up the colours to be the same as V2 and may help.

For me Firefox doesn't work properly in V3...I agree with the OP, it is NOT ready to be released.

And on the basis of quite a few paying members complaining, the Site management may have to tread carefully.

I've had my doubts about V3 and still have.

The amount of time spent programming it and the amount of bugs make me wonder whom they hired for said programming.

Always had the impression they hired some IT students from somewhere for cheap tbh.

I don't hate V3 but whenever I've tried it I don't stay in it long. It's always nice to go back to V2.
