True... but you can just ask him to resign. I can think of few other circumstances in which this would be useful.

I really like having the conditional moves option when playing online, but it might be nice to have an "any" button as one might play in "snail mail" correspondence.
For instance, I currently am playing the last throes of a game where my opponent has only a king against my rook and two pawns. The rook is blocking the king from the f file, and the passed pawn on the g file is just going to march up the board and become a queen. However, on every move the king might move to three or four different squares--there's no telling where. With an "any" option, I could just leave all the other pieces in place and march the pawn up to g8 without considering WHAT his reply might be.
Now I know this has to be used judiciously; there are horror stories about how the "any" move backfired on folks who used it. But I'm sure there are hundreds of situations on chess.com every day where it would really expedite matters.
