Yes.
We're so focused on the 'news function' but I think the admins don't really care if it's a new function or what function it is, as long there is a simple way to get a message to all of our members that can be easily read.

I like idea of allowing admins to message multiple members but it looks like a feature which would not be implemented until v2 goes away??
Such a new feature may need analysis? Would it overlap with news and forums? Should SA be able to see which mass message were send, as he/she can see which news were send, etc, etc.

I think we need an immediate fix to the broken news feature... while perhaps wait for a more comprehensive improvement until swith to V3 is complete??
Here are some immediate fix options (which should be small development/code efforts??)
Roll back to old functionality for V2 and change once chess.com has time to evolve the news as alert feature (keep V3 as is for now)
OR
1) Keep everything as is, but when you click "ignore all" it should not remove the news (and new vote chess) alerts
2) Keep everything as is, but make hyperlink directly into news item for news
Current UI (v2):
Today, if you click group name for a news item, you are taking to group's home page. Which works well for group notes alerts but terrible for news. If you click "view" you are taking to a list of all news (with teaser lines). It is not clear which news are new and an extra click to click in and read the news. There is currently, no link to click, which from the alerts would take you directly into the news item.
What I am proposing as a quick fix, is to keep UI as is (even though I and Steikt have proposed improvements #224, #235) and make it so that if you click group name or "view" for a news, it take you to the actual news. That should not be a minor development effort??
I think it is likely that 1) and 2) would increase viewing of news significantly? My question to the community is that if we had to choose, would we prefer 1) or 2) first?

A temporary lift on spamming members of one's group would be the best solution.
If members complained, cases ould be reviewed as is done with potential cheaters.

Question is if it is a good idea to wait 6-12 month for V3 to be rolled-out before current problems with news functionality should be addressed? As described in post #252, I think chess.com has some options for a quick fix with low effort:
1) Roll back V2 to send news as PM (leave V3 as is for now). Even if news is only send out when admin is creating using V2 it would be much better than current functionality
OR

I strongly agree with this as well. Reason being, it's not complex and difficult if the message of news is giving out directly opposed to the other two ways seems very complex and I think people will opt not to bother looking at it.

I proposed this at #149. Just like sending group invites. Specify multiple members in a box, separated by commas, while writing the news.
My groups have all been slowly dying, and I attribute that to the broken News feature. They'll all be gone in 6 months at this rate.
