Well if we're naming the groups that support this, my groups are:

Christian Homeschool Team

Christian Competitive Club

Christian Tournament Group

Speed Lightning Club

sasak963

I join and support VKJ and those who share his opinion, criticism and suggestions. If something is obviously good, why are we changing for the worse? It is good to point out to the site because they are things that are needed just us who use the site and all that it offers. This site exists because of us users.

Death wish, that seems sensible.

Any ideas, wishes, suggestions, opinions ... about this in V3?

Of course doing anything in V2 might only be temporary, and wiped out as soon as V3 takes over.

Deathwi5h

I think it needs fixing in v2 now.....

Deathwi5h

Trying not to think about v3:-/

I know that many people have said they think so.

Of course we all know that chess.com have said they have been concentrating on creating things for V3, and have stopped fixing things in V2.

So it might likely be a lot more convincing if any suggestions here can be used for V3. My guess is that this would increase the chances by a lot that any such suggestions can actually be implemented by chess.com.

Bilbo21

Do we know who decided to change it, anyway, and why?  Could it not be a bug.

ilmago

Bilbo, from its timing, a very plausible guess is that it is a feature for the time during which V2 and V3 need to coexist consistently in the databases. That would make it even more likely for it to be helpful to use good ideas for this in V3 to help things to get implemented.

I agree, old way was better. But new way doesn't bother to me anyway.

VirtualKnightJoakim

I know some are not bothered by the new way. However, the new way reach very few members. Most people go through their PMs to get their count down to 0. As shown, news alerts requires 4 click before you can read the news and, as shown, many simply do not click that deep.

Alerts count goes to zero when you click "ignore all"... That is not how PM works.

As less than 1% of a group (0.4% for group "MONIKA"), now see the news item, news are now longer effective as match reminders, news letters or other group news.

barnacle_bill

I agree...

What happens when they start losing paying members?

Very good forum Joakim! Congrats! My comment on this is that Chess.com do not care about teams. Two-three months ago I had to communicate with the Staff a lot because our team was destroyed by a mentaly ill person. The whole team but the admins (I am talking about team with over 1100 members) was destroyed. After we started to rebuild the same mentally challenged person changed the logo of his group that they are the only bulgarian group recognized by the site (probably shitting his pants that we will rebuild very quickly and will be again bigger than his group). So I exchanged some messages with some very important members of the staff who told me that they besically do not care about the groups even though in our case the site's name was used for a lie. What I am trying to say is that once it is gone - it is gone. THEY WILL NOT PUT IT BACK. THIS SITE IS ALL ABOUT MONEY - you are cheater - no problem you can come back and pay for your membership - you are safe. So if it is less work for the site to take this feature off - it will stay off. Joakim this is shooting in the dark. They do not care. The only problem for them is their Bank Accounts.

wow - 1100 :-/
