Chess.com suggestion box

How would you make chess.com better?

RoyEvan23

More "Your Games Analayzed" on Chess.com TV, especially by Elliot Liu. He explains everthing clearly move by move so us regular players can understand them. But they should definately have one everyday. It wouldn't be too hard to set a up a webcam by different high rank players and go through a game move by move.

I would add a suggestion box.

TenaciousE

I would get rid of (or severely limit) the vacation feature.  Instead, I would change the time controls to include a timebank, similar to that used by other sites.

I'd like to have "Finish with computer" button appear right after opponent resigned.

Is there a forum to report this type of behavior?

brendenallport: hey kionadad i hope your son commits suicide in a rain forest
brendenallport: also don't waste your money on a member ship in chess
brendenallport: 4 more years of donald trump

Thanks, I wouldn't have thought of it being there. Just submitted the idea of being able to star some of our own or someone else's past games so we could easily go back to them in the future.

You know this stupid rule you have about not able to resign before move 10:

GET RID OF IT!

It is quite easy to get totally lost position before that - so this stupid rule is just adding insult to the injury!

Half of my chess puzzles are rated at over the 2000 mark with no discernable way to calibrate. Be it the learning mode or the rated mode. This does not help my progress at all.

StoicCrane

A tap feature to highlight clicked pieces for mobile. All to often misclick pieces destroyed otherwise decent games. Wasting valuable time.

Can we have letters for pieces back? (blob)e4 is much harder to read than Qe4, especially in a small font.

Yeah, something weird is going on with the algorithm that assigns puzzles.  My last six puzzles have been four unrated ones and then two over a 2000 rating, when I am in the high 1600s.  I've also noticed recently that missing puzzles sometimes triggers even harder puzzles for like 3-4 in a row, and there are also strings of solved puzzles where they are all 100 or more points below my rating at the time.  Don't know what's up but it is kind of annoying to miss five puzzles in a row and then have puzzle #6 be nearly 400 points above my current puzzle rating.

I would add a chess repertoire trainer tool. It's the big missing feature on chess.com in my opinion. I love studying openings. But chess.com/openings is nothing special. Chess Position Trainer is an old, abandoned tool but it's still the best one around because nobody has made a better one yet - and it isn't even available on Mac! Chessable, Chesstempo, and Listudy.org are all trying to make something like this, but their user experiences are terrible and none of them met the key user need. Enter lines of your repertoire by making moves on the chess board, then toggle Train=On to quiz yourself on your lines. For example, make a move as white, and randomly select (from the user's repertoire) black's response. Then make the move as white which you've previously entered as the desirable response. If wrong, X. If right, checkmark, black makes another move, and so on. After a line ends, give the option to train again.

I would, without a doubt, use this feature all the time, and would resubscribe just to keep my repertoire intact. It's a huge unmet need in the chess training market and chess.com really needs to make one. Happy to share more info with anyone who cares to talk about it.

Just ran into it again right now. Four out of five rated over 2000, total crock..

Can you give back the 'retry' feature? The 'key moments' thing is cool but it's much less usable.

zorgubon

i also regret the retry feature  whydid it vanish ?

AmorGambit

So the thing is, adding an extension that would allow you to gobble up your opponents hanging pieces after a win is not only terrible fun, but also would help players improve by rewarding mate while leaving un-captured pieces  hanging(which is counter intuitive at the lower levels).  Such an extension could have sound effects and added blitz.pnganimationthemes.png to reward/increase player engagement that wouldn't effect there opponent during or after a game.  I refer to it as AmorGobble and would love to see it role out on thanksgiving.  Just a brilliant mobile marketing strategy, you might want to look into.  You would think I went to school for this.  #platinum.pngplatinum.pngplatinum.png?

Yes.   That sounds like something useful that I would hope to use.   I'm currently trying to do something like that, offline.   I'd like that.
