Maybe, if we would like to come back after some time...
You can't delete your account. You can "close" it but your games and comments won't be deleted.
Millions of people just don't log in for years. I can't see any drawback to leaving an inactive account.
Sometimes they remember about their old pals here on chess.com and come back.

You know you could just log out and not log back in?
Heisenberg, why don't you just change your password to something you won't remember, then you can't log in?
You can always retrieve/make a new one later if you decide to come back.
