i just checked again. it endlessly tries to "transfer data from rd.meebo.com". i can reach meebo.com itself though. so it seems my assumption about facebook is correct.
facebook blockage causes the site to slow down

while using chess.com through a computer where facebook (and many other sites) is blocked for allegedly security reasons, the site keeps loading something and it slows down the site visibly. i suppose that the site tries to reach facebook. i think it would be wise for the site just to check if the user can reach facebook and alike social sites first not to slow down site if it is technically possible. or just to put in settings an option to turn off facebook and alike.
