2) you played two games that day

3) you want us to download a rar file to our computer that contains what i can only assume is an executable

Yeeeeaaahhhhhhh ...... probably not going to happen.

Why don't you post screenshots and explanations.

Ok, it will be better. The idea of the variant is to give a freedom to player, you not only dont need to memorize anything, you also cant do that. If you win, it is only because of natural skill. Game system is just very clear, so you can trust your ability, but as well number of combinations is countless. But dont be fooled, it is not that known idea of "randomizing everything". You start with the same pieces every game. There are in the base the four move types. As like in chess is three base move types: Bishop, Rook, Knight. In my game is one new move, that is as natural as the first three. it is because it is on larger board and range of pieces are doubled. But equally, there are not pieces with infinite range. Everything is limited to "four square range". The picture will explain it the best. Note this is not pictures from tha game. It is old pictures that i created before programmed the game. But chessboard is 12x12 in real game as on pictures.

This is all pieces, that appear in the game. The look of pieces was been changed back to standard chess, because i cant paint them. So there is six types of pieces. As you can suspect, there is no difference between King and Queen. Only they look different. Idea of this, is that, they are unique, pawn can not promote in this type of piece.

So lets explain the rules:

The pieces are divided into three classes:

1) Civilian Units - it is all your Pawns.

2) Royal Units - it is your King and Queen.

3) Military Units - it is everything else.

- Civilian Unit can promote into Military unit, when it ends it's path.

-Royal Units can not fight. They only move. You must have Royal Unit in your army, as well as, Unit, that is not Royal must be in your army. Otherwise, you lose the game.

- If you have (At the start of your move) Royal Unit and Military Unit in the 4x4 center of chessboard and if number of (Your Royal Unit in center + Your Military Unit in center) > (Enemy Royal Unit anywhere + Enemy Military Unit anywhere), then you win the game.

Names of pieces, that are in the game is: Pawn, Bishop, Rook, Knight, Paladin, Queen, King.

You start with 8 pawns, 2 Bishops, 2 Rooks, 2 Knights, 2 Paladins, Queen, King. Pawns are on the second row, everything else is on the second row. They are randomly generated on their rows, however. And independently of other player. Lets look at the pictures from original game.

This is Paladin Move:

pepa999

Game won by capture the center. It is start of White move and he instantly win. Look, how pawns dont determine it.

TheBigDecline

If my Queen can't fight, then what is she good for?

pepa999

You must have at least one Royal Unit, or you lose the game. So, when you lost King, you have still Queen, and vice versa, but dont lose both of them, or you lose the whole game.

pepa999

Game winning by conquest. It is Black on Move. He can not prevent loss. Because you must have at least one Royal Unit and at the same time at least one Unit, that is not Royal.

TheBigDecline

Oh, so you can continue to play even without your King? Then this game isn't similar to Chess at all, lol! Smile

And you were looking for a name for it, right? My suggestion would be: Battle of Houses (as the armies are both controlled by literal royals, not just symbolic ones like in Chess).

DrSpudnik

This is truly unbelievable!

SO there's also a rule that if u get a certain number of your pieces to the center you automatically win?

pepa999

You can not gain another Queen or King. Pawn can not promote in Queen or King. So you have just two Royal pieces instead of one. Focusing on Royal pieces is still valuable. And i know, that it is not similar to chess from the perspective of official definitions, but when you play it, you feel it similar to chess, but with much more freedom.

If Han Solo reaches the Ark of the Covenant, the purple tetrahedron squirts it glands on the hippy-dippy whirligig!

Have you ever played it with someone else? Are you speaking from experience?

One year ago, I created my own Chess variant (I don't consider your game as a variant) and thought it was the best thing ever, until I persuaded my brother to learn the rules and play out a few games with me. Boy, was I disappointed! Laughing

Yes, i explained it in one of the first comments. "When you have at the start of your turn more pieces in the center, than your opponent anyrywhere, you win" - this rule has limitations: 1) pawns numbers are ignored in this rule 2) you must have at least one piece of each type (Royal AND Military) in the center

What? Who's Han Solo? What's the Ark of the Covenant? What's the purple tetrahedron? Who's the hippy-dippy whirligig?

And apparently you're defining "center" as the 16 squares in the center of the board?
