Who's Eric

The omnibenelovent, wise leader and founder of this website. He's a pretty swell guy.

TheGrobe

Oh, and it's Erik, not Eric.

Mr Gates might have something to say about that!

I think having an interactive social environment on chess.com is a great thing. It's good for the players, and its good financially for the developers.

If you don't like it, don't use it. You aren't required to do anything here.

Lolwrotalmho (laugh out loud while rolling on the floor and laughing my head off)

Okay maybe it wasn't that funny, I just wanted to try that out.

FrodoPiano

It was funny nonetheless.

And I also think it is a good thing for chess players to get to know each other, and talk. Wether it's chess, tactics, etc. or just fun, it's good for us not just to be stuck in our living rooms making chess moves one at a time in correspondence games. It also beats playing by postcard, so try to support the site so that it keeps going. I mean, where would we be without chess?

corrijean

I'm playing a snail mail correspondence game. It's kind of fun.

TheGrobe

I've never played via the post, but I did used to play over the telephone prior to the Internet.

AlCzervik

Too much peace pipe, Lisa.

Conquistador

My Bongcloud boards are ruined.

Natalia_Pogonina

It has always been a social network. That's one of the main reasons why the website is so successful.

Aweceons

it will be more fun if

Chess.com Becoming A Social Network

ilgambittoo

There could be mass exodus from fb to chess.com.

AlCzervik

Sheesh, I hope not. I can just see the topics. "Guess what I had for lunch today"!!!

Crazychessplaya

Chess.com is like Facebook, minus the jerks.

Were the forums here ever any good ?
