Odd draw requests

Hello,

This is my first post, so I''ll start by saying how much I love this site and how much it's helping my games. Thank you.

Most people I have played with are very nice and helpful. However, I've found some players that open up a game and then ask for a draw almost immediately. Why do they do that? Is this a dishonest way of getting easy points?

Yes it is a dishonest way of getting points.

How in the world do they get points? You don't have to agree to the draw.

There are many reasons why someone may ask for a draw very early in a game.

It does not have to be a dishonest way to gain points.

That's an interesting interpretation of the word 'sandbagging'.

I don't seem to get what Buster implies.

I am multilingual and the word sandbagging is used by non english as a first language speakers to mean every type of cheating instead of bluffing as in poker.

Wow.

I also thought the first draw was a mistake but it has happened twice and I haven't played that many times. When I say early in the game I mean before the first move. That early.

I am just wondering how can one be a "coward" in a chess game.

Avatar of MuhammadAreez10

Yep, coward. They want to rise or lower their rating this way. Don't accept it anyhow.

Cowards, all of you! Cowards!

If any cowards need to be put down, we need digital euthenasia.

According to the socially inept who frequent this site, one is a coward if one disconnects in a losing position, does not resign promptly, or does not accept a rematch. Stand by for the whiners refuting this statement.

One is also not particularly nice when criticising people who makes these threads.
