My streak playing Black is five in a row now, and these are open seeks I have responded to. Interesting, but playing Black is educational so I don't complain.
Playing as random color

Well, you can certainly count your games...and no - when it is random, your opponent does not get a choice in the matter. It's random for you both as far as I know.

I know you can be both white and black when playing random, and haven't noticed a very unusual spread in my games.
It might be that random searches can be linked to people searching to play a specific colour, perhaps assuming that players would be looking to specifically play white as often as they'd like to specifically play black.
That seems naïve though. I'd predict that (with white being listed as the colour with a slight advantage) there are people trying to boost their rating by only playing white.
Of course the irony is that the first move advantage is almost meaningless below Expert level.

Maybe it is broken, I just got 3 white's in a row. Not only that, they were all Sicilian Defense. It's one thing to be given the same color repeatedly, but can we change up the defense we play against? Erik? Jay? Anyone on this?
EDIT: The 4th one was also white, but a Ruy Lopez this time, thanks for fixing the problem so quickly.
To avoid under-learning black, I've been playing "random." But as far as I can remember, I have not once been assigned white when I set color as random. To challengers get to choose? Or am I literally just facing an unlikely, but possible, streak of playing black? (Honestly, I think I've played up to 20 games as black in a row up to now, and have always set it at random).
