Yes, my opinions factor into it...sometimes I will find myself in agreement with the opinion on TV - I'm quite fine with that.

This in fact belong to this political strategy :
you create a monster for the mob to throw sticks and stones at. As soon as they hear or see "political correctness" the mob goes crazy - pull the plug out of any intelligent dialogue that deals with civil rights.
Same way as how they've successfully demonized the word "feminism" - pull the plug out of any intelligent dialogue that deals with women's rights...turn it into some sort of pariah.
Feminism is about women getting the right to vote, protecting them from getting raped by their own husbands, getting equal pay for equal work....but if you ask any woman today if they are a feminist...they say...no no no I'm not...even if they agree with all the above.
And when you own the media - it is very easy to do ...thousands of talking heads on primetime TV is not match for the few voices of reason.
You mentioned the concept of dicsrimination a couple of times there. My thoughts regarding the subject are going to be highly controversial (or politically incorrect, if you will), but in the spirit of this thread, I'm going to say what I think anyway.
I'm against all anti-discrimination laws in the private sector. A private business can refuse to hire or serve anyone for whatever reason. In turn, those who feel that they are "discriminated" against can protest through strikes, boycotts, etc. Nowhere in the process should the government ever get involved. Whether or not there should be equal pay for equal work should also be worked out between employers and employees themselves.

I agree with you Macer...in spirit...
But this has to be studied in depth to see whether it is possible for government NOT to intervene and still have a CIVILIZED and HUMANE SOCIETY....that is, if that is what Americans want their republic to be.
If in so doing - you will find blacks and homosexuals frozen dead under bridges in winters because they can't find work or housing....

But seriously, PC was a fad, that died out with the 90's. Even the Spice Girls outlasted PC.
Why are we still having this conversation 15 years later? I can't remember the last time I heard the term "spokes-person."

It's always either spokeman. Or spokeswoman.
Same with Congressman/woman. Or Chairman/woman.
Which are a far cry better than the old spokesperson. I don't miss that at all.

We could have a two-chambered America:
America 1 - all white, conservative, everybody can carry a gun and descriminate against whomever they wish, minimal government - except for laws that enforce and impose conservative and religious tenets, no taxes and public education - optional
America 2 - rainbow, liberals - reasonable gun control, representative governmment...laws and ordinance voted by people, secular, public education...taxation to maintain governance, infrastructure and social services
Then we allow people to migrate to whichever America they choose.
Though, I'm wondering about the fate of people like Dick Cheney's daughter who is conservative and lesbian ? Where would she go?
Obviously, where you can find better food. She would be welcome here (whoever she is). ;)

Another idea a freind of mine had. Two Americas.
One is all about safety. Everything illegal. No guns. No alchohol. No gambling. No prostitution. No marijuana.
The other one, the opposite. Everything legal.
The only catch being, you get caught breaking the law in that "Safe America," you get expelled to the other side, permanantly.
(Now guess which side would be the West Coast)

When I watch American news ...I just glean the facts and leave out the opinions of the talking heads...I know right off whether it is a left or right wing opinion
Or at least you try to just glean the facts. And you think you know right off whether it is left or right wing.
That's what most people try to do, but, needless to say, it's difficult to be successful all of the time. And don't foget that out own opinions also factor into the process.
