Possible changes/additions of the block feature.

The only things we can do with the block feature as of the starting of this thread are simply to block/unblock people.  I propose the following additions.  Feel free to use the powers of the white box at the bottom of the page to comment on what you think about them.

1.  Reminder-  This addition to the block feature would alert you when you have someone blocked for a time pre-determined by the blocker, and asks you whether or not to renew the block (from ozzie_c_copplepot)

2.  Appeal- This addition to the block feature allows the blocked person to make an appeal of his blocking to the blocker, and the blocker can decide to unblock him if he decides to (the reason he was blocked may be a misunderstanding of some sort).  This would happen when the block takes place, and whenever else the blocker wants it to be. (from a commenter on a thread about blocking, I don't know from who, but not from me)

3.  Other customization- With this addition, the blocker could decide exactly what the blockee can/can not do, such as...

·       What threads the blockee can/can not post in (for example, I could disallow Lenny Bongcloud voters to post in my surveys, but still allow them to comment on a joke thread)

·       Whether they can play you in Live Chess

·       Whether they can leave you a note

·       Whether they can leave you a message

·       etc.

4.The 200 block limit- this is discussed in this thread

5. Ignore- This change would feature the option of not seeing the blockee’s threads, posts, and the quoted part of his/her quoted posts.  In other words, this change takes the blockee out of the blocker’s chess.com life and thoughts.

Feel free to make your own suggestions to add to this list.

Please implement it all!!!

I'd like the block feature to include an option to not see the threads started by the blocked member(s).

Yeah, sorry, I forgot to add an "ignore" part to the list.  I will edit it.

why are you talking to yourself ?

How bout this, for those who use the feature (not me sorry but i refuse to stoop to that level) a feature that allows you to like earn redemption from it, that would be interesting cause if a person thinks being blocked is a personal attack, they can do something, like revive some of the blockers dead threads( hey that rymes) and they wont be blocked. (exhales)

kco

say again.

When the appeal is issued, the blockee will still be blocked, unless the blocker decides to unblock him
Ben_Dubuque

but this is a feature that allows the Blockee to be proactive, because there will probably be people who refuse to listen to appeals

hehe,   "they can do something, like revive some of the blockers dead threads( hey that rymes) and they wont be blocked." (exhales)

why would we would want to revive a blocker dead thread ?

Ben_Dubuque

to be unblocked

checkmateibeatu
If they refuse to listen, they can jut continue blocking them without reading the appeal.
Ben_Dubuque

that is not the point, the point is to promote kindness and spread a cheerful message to the chess.com community that all matters can be settled without quable
