Should there be some minigames on chess.com?

Chess.com used to be perfectly fine.

Until all you brats escaped from chesskids and overun the forums. :)

I think "trolls" would be a much more appropriate word than "brats." Also, I had my chess.com account before I created my chesskid account, and technically I'm not supposed to have a chesskid account (only kids, parents and coaches are supposed to have one, and I'm too old to be a kid, not planning to ever become a parent in my life, and not quite qualified to be a coach... yet).

True. The lack of public forums makes the place quite dull.

True. And the lack of minigames makes this place not as interesting as it could be.

A kid. And he is a kid. So there's nothing wrong with what he's saying.

You know what I do when I get (temporarily) fed up from Chess, or when I have to wait for my moves in Correspondence Chess? I play 3D Pinball Space Cadet, best minigame in existence! :D

I even wrote a blog about my vast experiences with this game: http://www.chess.com/blog/TheBigDecline/why-is-this-game-so-addictive

EDIT: had to blot out some spelling mistakes

Gambitking mocked this generation of American youth, needing distraction from chess. I would remind him that many 19th and 20th century chess grandmasters also played checkers, poker, games of all sorts.  And people like Botvinnik (engineer) and Taimanov (concert pianist) and Smyslov (opera singer) credited their other occupations as having a distractive, and positive effect on their chess. Don't knock distraction; it's as old as mammals.

Nicholas_Shannon80

Maybe Fischer random and suicide chess, but that's all

No, no and no.
Regular chess has enough gaming value to last a lifetime.
If you want colourful games with powerups there are plenty of other good sites.

johnyoudell

no

Equating the worthy pursuits of the great players of the past with the substanceless, vapid, worthless, trivial, degrading bin of garbage that passes for 'entertainment' among the youth of today is akin to mentioning 'Green Day' in the same sentence as 'Iron Maiden'. Unfortunately, it looks like I did precisely that.

And by the way, if chess isn't exciting to you, then why are you here? What are you all doing in your life? What change are you effecting? How are championing the cause of the burdened proletariat? What's your excuse?

My excuse is that I don't feel like it. Happy now?
