Standard Chess Clocks

Buy this. It will last forever and you can set it in three seconds. Manual not included, because manual not needed. You don't need to be rewarded with five seconds every time you make a move. I would have linked the USCF but they are out of stock...as usual.

I'm 69 years old and have no trouble setting my Chronos.  The delay was added to give players a bit of time to make endgame moves and finish a game with play rather than by default while still pushing players to end a round in preparation for the next one.  Right or "wrong", it doesn't matter how the timer is set, time is time.  Endgame slapping occurs in either delay, add-on or set time modes when players fail to heed the clock.  If I can set a digital clock after reading the manual, anyone can.  There are only 3 modes I need to know how to set - regular time, delay and add-on.  "Hours on clock instruction?"  Get serious.

@maskedbishop

Wonderfully cogent argument for turning back the clock to an earlier time.  Unfortunately we're stuck in the present and what good is an analog clock that you can't use in a tournament setting?

A couple months ago at the chess club there were a few high school kids on Winter break who came in for a tournament. We have a bunch of digital clocks that come with an extensive instruction booklet and a bunch of old BHB cheapos. Since we don't use an increment, I prefer the BHBs, unless you know how to set those other things. The high school kids were perplexed by the round dial and hands and literally did not have the first clue as to how to set or read a 60-minute dial or turn the little knob in the back to set it. I thought they were joking, but they weren't.

And we have he no child left behind plan. Great idea. seems only in chess are we held responsible for our own actions.
