Speaking of tactics trainer, I would like to see an untimed option, or at least an option for a longer timer, in rated training. I sometimes would like a chance for more contemplative study.
Tactics trainer rating system

The time isn't there to restrict your time, it's there to measure your performance so it can adjust your rating and continue to give you problems appropriate for your level. You can turn off the timing bar so it's not rushing you in the options if you wish.
In my experience, the points gained cap at about 16, and go down proportionally with the time versus average time, but the points you get will also depend on your rating and the problem's rating.
It keeps giving me problems that are good practice, so I'm pretty happy with it overall.
From what I've gathered, the points earned/lost in tactics trainer = Abs(current rating - problem rating)
Is this accurate? And if so, why is this rating system in place? One should earn more points for a problem that has a rating of (current+10) than a problem that has a rating of (current-16). Especially bad are the situations when one fails a problem rated +16... I think an elo-like system would make more sense..
