Time Control Changes?

adding 60/30 or 90/30 gives players a real tournament type of game with lot of time to think, and hence practice better...

it would be a boon for players like me who have less tournament experience and want to play longer time controls everyday with a whole lot of players

but i guess that if you have 90 minutes, you don't really need a 30 second increment

Tapani, yes there is a potential problem that newcomers will not fully understand the time committment involved with 45|45 and 90|30 games. But for the large groups that I belong to that use one or both of the 45|45 and 90|30 time controls, it would make life a lot easier for the many experienced players that already use these time controls. We are talking about thousands of players here, not just a few, that would benefit if these time controls were available as standard choices.

Would like to see chess.com add 45/45 and 90/30 as time controls.  These are great simulations of the OTB experience.  Someone on one of the slow chess club chat rooms suggested using an actual board and pieces to make moves on......I tryed that the last couple of games and it works great!!

We should have 45/45 and 90/30 time stamps as well. Slow chess is important.

Nooo! Slower time controls need to be added, not taken away!

There must be slower time controls to simulate OTB for chess improvement: 30/30, 45/45 and 90/30.

The longer time limits like 45|45 and 90|30 would be a good addition; not everyone thinks the only kind of online chess should be blitz :)

Sounds great to replace 30|0 with 25|5. I am also interested in longer time controls and would prefer that most time controls get a delay (replace 10|0 with something equivalent with a delay, for example).

One need not go overboard in providing "a 1000" presets because one can always custom-set the time control one wants to play. So even if nothing was changed it would be very usable, as it has always been.

Having said that, I would propose to include a 25/10 time instead of 25/5, reason being that 25/10 is an official FIDE time control for rapid (that is 25 min plus 10 sec for each move from the start). I would find that official time preset more useful (e.g. training games) than say a 25/5.

In addition, being a fan of longer time controls I would welcome a preset of 30/30 and (or) 45/45.

However, if the present functionality is retained and one can custom-set whatever time in the new version, as one can in the present version of Live Chess, I'm fine with anything.

Hi i think adding new time controls is a good idea

But removing other time controls is bad

we have different comfort zones and there are already a very few time controls.other than that we cannot customize for our favorite time controls and interesting time controls.customization doesn't permit to practice us with intresting time controls like 0+1s and time controls like 45/45 and 90/30 with timestamps in PGN as suggested by users.in other words 'favorite customization' simply doesn't exist right now.

its good to add but removing other controls may not be popular with the users

you can actually add some buttons or something that automatically classifies the customized time controls as lightning,blitz.super-blitz,longer time controls and every time control.
