terrible idea
Bullet Chess
Bullet chess is a lot of fun. But at our level, what can you possibly make of it? It's basically intuitive and tactical. You can't learn much from it. It's great though. In other words, anything is possible in bullet chess.
To me bullet is too fast, even for fun purposes. In order to warm up before serious games I prefer to play 1 or 2 blitz games in the same day.
I can't even play bullet! It's too fast.
I definitely don't think it's a good idea to play it before a long event. Short chess and long chess require different thought processes. For ex, bullet is more intuitive and reactive.
What it does do however is make your mind more quick and alert, so in that sense it helps you. However long chess requires more patience.
But it also kindof depends on the type of player you are. If you play naturally fast chess, I think it would cause you to make hasty decisions in a long game, which is definitely a detriment. But if you're like me and play naturally slow chess, your natural tendancy is to play slow in long games, so playing bullet for me wouldn't cause me to make hasty decisions in a long game.
I would rather suggest playing rapid games, which helped me prepare for tournaments. A time control like 15 10. What that does for me is allow me enough time to think, but force me not to take too long on moves. In rapid I am forced to be less hesitant, and on a good day I won't calculate the same variations 4 times, but just once and then go on and trust my intuition. This is what typically works for me.
Bullet is very good for your chess...because once you get shot with that, you die. Same thing in chess, you just commit suicide and lose all your pieces...cuz blahblahblahblah
good, as long as you play real chess in bullet, not random moves :)!
but of course, do tactics puzzles before a tourn, really helps ur calculation!
