Getting kicked out of a tournament for rating?

I've been in a 1000-1400 double elimination tournament (this one: http://www.chess.com/tournament/-fast-elimination-tourneybracket-double-elimination1001-1400)) for over 2 months now.

The tournament administrator just posted a comment at the start of the 4th round saying at the end of this round, all +1450s would be "removed."

Is this allowed?? I'm a bit frustrated that this was never announced at the outset of the tourney. What can I do?

Thats rating discrimination isn't it? Maybe it could be called ratism or ratingism or some kind of ism.

People don't seem to understand that in the course of these tournaments that last months, ratings are bound to change.

Seems stupid to kick people for it after it's started.

MrDamonSmith

I think if a tournament has a cut off point of 1500 and a player is 1350 when it starts and after kicking some butt is all of a sudden rated 1700 he should still be allowed in because his rating WAS under 1500 when it started.

That's just stupid!  Ratings go over the top limit in tourneys all the time. After several games, it's to be expected.

tigergutt

im suprised that its even possible to do that. does the host over the tournament have that much control? it seems nothing but unfair if it is, smweis36 played fairly

Is there nothing I can do if we get kicked out? It seems outrageously unfair. I wasn't sure if there were any sight administrators I could inform.

InfiniteFlash

Well, did the tournament have set filters before it started?

Did it have you play a minimum of 100 games or something so your rating wouldnt fluctuate too much?

They shouldn't even be able to do that...
