How to Kill a Zombie Tournament?

Sort:
Rawumber

I have a tournament which is stuck with the final three players. 1st and 2nd place players have not logged on in months so the matches tie and the two move to the next round. So this I'm guessing will keep repeating until one logs on and make a move or their accounts expire...  I'd like to kick them out.

Any suggestions?

Will there be different pairings if your rating drops below that other player(s)?

But that would be not the most reasonable solution I guess.

That is a weird one! It really is stuck in a loop and will keep getting new rounds with the same pairings if nothing changes...

As FuzzleOIL pointed out above, and the one remaining active player in the tournament is also aware, enough of a change in that active player's rating will change the pairings and end the loop.

BUT, unless it has changed recently, the TD, Rawumber, should be able to kick those 2 out before the next pairing and end it now. You just need to be logged in, and then view the list of tournament players and they will have a red X or something similar that you can click on. There have been complaints before about TD's kicking players out of daily tournaments unfairly, without good reason, but in this case it *is* clearly appropriate. I'm surprised that no-one else has mentioned this yet.

The TD can not remove players if they have unfinished games...

If all goes well, I, the only active player left, will keep my rating above the other two players.  Which means I will be in the next round and not have a bye, which means that the tournament will progress.
