I'm trying to join a tournament but I seem to be banned since my timeout ratio went above 10%.  I was stranded travelling when the Icelandic volcano shut down all flights and I had all my timeouts ever during that natural disaster.  Is my account useless now for joining tournaments?

thanks

No, just keep on playing games. When you win a game without losing on time your time out ratio will soon go down.

Current stats

Total Games: 46
In Progress: 0
Timeouts: 11 (24%)

There are some member-created tournaments where the tournament director has increased the default timeout ratio to more than 10%. You have to try each one since this is not automatically displayed.

To join an official tournament you need a timeout ratio of less than 10%.

You have to complete (110 - 46) = 64 more games, without timing out again, if you wish to keep using this account. (Add 9 more games to the 64 for each new timeout.)

You don't need to win the games in order to decrease the time-out ratio. Losing will do just nicely :)

You may also want to contact chess.com about the issue.

I seriously doubt whether they have their own Force Majeure regulations here.
