Isn't YouTube streaming WAY better than Twitch, or am I missing something?

The below is how I understand things, although I have a feeling there must be more to Twitch that I haven't figured out.

YouTube live streaming has a time slider so you can go back and forth through the show even while it is still live.  

Twitch has no time slider.  Can't go back to see what happened, to replay a key moment etc.  Once its over, its over.

YouTube is also much easier to search to find previous programs, even a year or more old.  I haven't searched Twtch that much but it seems not so simple.  

Even the Twitch replays don't have the time slider?  This seems too crappy to be true.  What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.  I confirmed you are right on my phone app and browser, but last night I was trying to watch a replay of the Fischer random day 3 (through the chess.com link) and it was just like the live broadcast with no way to fast forward. 

Also, searching Twitch this morning, they have Fischer Random day 1 available for replay but not days 2 or 3.  This is opposed to typical YouTube streaming where the broadcast is available immediately for replay.  

Chess.com does put their Twitch streams on youtube eventually but they are slow.  The Aronian/Firouzja speed chess match just went on youtube today, 4 days after the match.  So right now, I don't know of any way to watch the Fisher Random match until it they get loaded on either Twitch or Youtube.  

Youtube is way better but streaming is for panhandlers, so I am guessing it's easier to take peoples money on twitch.

What does twitch do that youtube doesn't?  I don't understand the value proposition of twitch.

Exactly.  

During the World Cup it was streamed on youtube and you could join late and watch from the beginning, or skip around to the interviews or games that are intersting to you.  Now the Grand Swiss is streamed on Twitch and you are stuck in real time, unable to rewind or check the introduction or anything.  It's lame technology.   Its like choosing to use a big square black and white TV. when you could have a Beautiful LED flat screen.  

Twitch sells viewer subscriptions more aggressively than youtube. That means that streamers can earn real money at the kinds of viewership levels that chess generates.

Twitch really does need to allow time jumping for people who miss the start of the streams.

Has anyone noticed that sometimes the reruns from the IOM stream sometimes has no time bar to allow rewinding, and other times it does?  Is it that the immediate same day rerun plays just like the live version and the next day you can rewind?  I'm watching todays rerun right now and can't move around timewise.  

I just figured it out by asking the question in Twitch chat.  Apparently there is a "rerun" of the brpadcast that plays just like the live version.  There is also a video on demand in "past videos"  that you can jump around using the time slider.  Both versions are available on Twitch right now.  Another dumb, nonsensical thing about Twitch.
