I’m new to tournament play; in a 3 day per move game, and my opponent’s clocked was ticking down... and then stopped. A pause button denoted. Why is this?

Thank you for such a prompt response. My view of the game didn’t appear thus. I wasn’t aware ‘vacation’ was an option... thanks for the help
