For some reason every time I start a tournament it always cancels when the start timer ends. Any idea of why that is?

Tournaments require a minimum number of participants registered at the start to continue.

Do you know how many people are required to start a tournament?

I think you pick that number yourself as part of creating the tournament?

Isn't that just the amount of people that can participate? I don't think that has to do with how many people are required to start a tournament, but I could be wrong.

I believe Swiss require 4 and Arena 5

In a round-robin tournament, the minimum number of players needed for a tournament with a specific number of rounds is determined by the power of 2, where the exponent is equal to the number of rounds.

Here's a breakdown:

  • 1 Round: Requires 2 players.
  • 2 Rounds: Requires 4 players.
  • 3 Rounds: Requires 8 players.
  • 4 Rounds: Requires 16 players.
  • And so on... The number of players doubles with each additional round.

I did start a tournament the other evening with only ten people and there were four rounds.

For Live Swiss tournaments the max number of rounds will by the total number of players at the start divided in half and rounded down. So your event must have only had 8 or 9 joined when it started. So if you scheduled more rounds than that, it will be decreased.
