unrated tournament points

i just found out that you still receive tournament points even in unrated tournaments. at first i thought this was great. then i began to wonder. any opinions?

i guess there's nothing really wrong with it, but it does seem odd that someone could acquire a ton of points (and be high up on the tournament points list) playing all unrated tournament games.

But you still have to win...

The thing is, if you win a tourney and acquire a load of points, you would get a rating boost anyway; so it really only affects people who lose.

Yeah, winning a tournament is winning a tournament whether it is rated or not. Still there will be tough competition and tough games.
