WHS Chess

Chess Club is essentially geared toward the development of newcomers who have yet to learn and players who seek to improve, all the while creating a healthy environment where members enjoy the logic, creativity, and strategic maneuvers of the game. The club offers a variety of ways in which the classical games of chess (and checkers) are played, such as Team chess, Fischer random, and Loser's chess. It also pushes to accommodate for a wide range of competitiveness for its members - as a member, you can choose to play casual games, join periodic club activities, sign up to tournaments, or participate in rated USCF (United States Chess Federation) matches. The club room is open almost everyday during lunch, where active members spend their time enjoying the academically enriching hobby. Points are rewarded to those who participate in periodic club activities, which can then be converted to cash prizes by year's end.
