Bexley Grammar Chess Federation
The Bexley Grammar Chess Federation (BGCF) is an organization dedicated to nurturing and advancing the love of chess within Bexley Grammar School and the broader community. Founded to support and coordinate chess-related activities, the BGCF organizes tournaments, training sessions, and inter-school matches, providing students with opportunities to develop strategic thinking, patience, and resilience.
The Federation oversees multiple levels of play, from beginner to advanced, ensuring that all students—from casual players to competitive chess enthusiasts—find a welcoming and challenging environment. Through weekly practice sessions, workshops, and one-on-one coaching, the BGCF helps students refine their skills, understand complex tactics, and grow in confidence both on and off the board.
With Rishaan Ghosh as its current head, the BGCF has grown in both membership and reputation, becoming a vital part of the school’s extracurricular culture. The Federation also connects with other schools and regional chess clubs, organizing and participating in friendly competitions and official tournaments. By fostering a collaborative and competitive spirit, the Bexley Grammar Chess Federation plays a key role in developing not only chess proficiency but also valuable life skills in its members, championing the values of critical thinking, discipline, and sportsmanship.
