metropolitan chess.pngThe 1st Metropolitan Chess International will run from 17-21 August at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, US.

The Metropolitan Chess organisation aims to promote and support the game of chess through community outreach and partnerships, and to provide opportunities for chess players of all strengths to learn, develop and grow through regular GM/IM norm tournaments.

The 1st Metropolitan Chess International will be a 9-round Swiss tournament featuring 50 titled players, with 11 Grandmasters headed by Michael Adams of England. 

Michael Adams is a former world #4 ranked player, and is the current British Champion.

Chess.com TV will be covering all 9 rounds, live on site, with commentary and player interviews. Shows will start one hour after the round time. Check www.chess.com/tv.

There is a guaranteed prize fund of 14,100 USD, with additional best game prizes for every round. The winner will receive 5,000 USD.

The time control is 40 moves in 90 minutes, then 30 minutes to finish, with a 30 second increment from the start of the game.
