1st World Mind Sports Games Underway
As previously previewed here and here, the 1st World Mind Sports Games are underway today in Beijing.
Unfortunately it now seems that new World #1 Veselin Topalov will not be among the competitors in the chess events at the games, but many other strong players will be taking part in these inaugural games.
The games as a whole will see around 3,000 sportsmen and women (or should that be gamesmen and women?) partcipating in a range of 'mind' sports including Bridge, Go, Draughts (Checkers), Xinagqi (Chinese Chess) and of course, the king of all games, Chess!
The official website for the games is here, and more details of the chess events are available at the FIDE website here and here.
