Sam Shankland 3.jpgThe 2012 Northern California International is reaching an exciting climax in the NorCal House of Chess at Northwestern Polytechnic University.

The competition is a 9-round Swiss organised by Arun Sharma and Ted Castro, giving GM and IM title norm opportunities for the 60+ strong field, including many familiar names to Chess.com members!

After 6 rounds GM Sam Shankland (pictured) is leading by half a point with a score of 5/6.

Young FM Kayden Troff is also doing well with 4/6, in search of an IM norm.
